Wind / Kite Surfing
Take your vacation a notch higher by engaging in water sports. The wind blowing from north to northwest in the Aegean Sea known as Meltemi creates consistent wind conditions in the northern coast of Kos. This makes Kos a perfect destination for windsurfing and kitesurfing especially in the period from of May to October.
The spot in Psalidi, known as the gustiest in the island, is great for advanced windsurfers. For beginners, morning is the best time to go since the wind is lighter. Moving to the northwest, you will find Marmari, 15 kilometers from Kos Town. The spot in Marmari has the wind blowing towards the sandy beach. The place is recommended for advanced kitesurfing. If you are looking for less rough wind conditions, visit Mastichari. The area in Mastichari also has a wide, sandy beach and the gentler wind is suited for beginner and intermediate levels.
